I just baught an optimax 150 from a friend, and was wondering if I had to use optimax oil. I still have a few gallons of Yamalube left from the last motor I had. Can I use that? Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Use Opti oil in an Opti. Use Yamalube in a Yammie. Merc DFIs require special oil. Yamaha takes great and deserved pride in using conventional products in their DFIs (like oil and sparkplugs among a host of others).
These two engines have different oiling systems, use the Opti oil in your Opti. You will hear from some that they use regular TC-W3 oil in there opti`s, but the Opti oil isn`t TC-W3 rated.
