What is the difference between the 225hp Optimax and 225 ProXS? pros/cons?

Not an expert in any way.But i read on her alot,and my summation is that the pro xs is far better.Lots of issues w/the optimax motors.My cousin runs a 250proxs(2007)on his ranger z21 and absolutely loves it.Has had no issues until @month ago when a coil went.Replaced under warranty and is going strong once again.I would definately go w/the pro xs if it were me.But,my 88 150 xr4 is still purring like a kitten so no need to upgrade,yet!(knocking on wood as i type!).

20' Triton...

I've been around several bass rigs that are running ProX's. I am impressed with the performance (fuel / power) and the "catapult" holeshot they have along with a hard chargin top end.. It seems my Triton likes a lot of prop height, however my EFI starts loosing water pressure (the higher I raise the plate, even though performance increases) and it's hole shot is not the best. Just looking at future options.

The only difference between an optimax and a proxs optimax is:
ProXS Optimax= Cabon Fiber reeds
Optimax=Stainless Steel (metal) reeds

ProXS Optimax has Lighter, more responsive, more dependable reeds. Also more expensive... of course.

So change you Optimax to a ProXS by changing out the reeds.. BOTH are really good motors.... Potatoe Potato ... its like saying " i have a 5 pound 8 ounce bass or I have a 5 and half lb bass... They are pretty much the same... That was a lame metaphor.. I know!
