Well I bought the 2012 Manitou today, but I asked him to order me a Mercury 150 XS PRO instead of the Mercury 150 four stroke he had on it. After Rooster told me research, I did just that! I think the 4 stroke would have been just fine and I would have loved it, but I cant see giving up the extra HP and extra MPH gain on a performance pontoon, heck that's why I bought it was to go as fast as the floating living room would go. Im a little nervous about the noise level though. Asked the wife, would you rather go a little slower and have a quieter engine or go faster and have a louder engine, and she said quieter. But I ordered he opti anyways, she will likely never know what engine is on the boat, she is more concerned with getting kids covered in sunscreen and life jackets on than anything else. I just cant see how you can go wrong with simple design, more power and lighter weight, and equal fuel efficiency. I just cant get the four stroke to make sense under any reasoning, EXCEPT noise. Hoping its not obnoxiously loud.
Now I have to wait till next week to pick it up, ill post pics once I get her home.
Thanks for reading.
