sorry for a rather simple question, but what is the best way to obtain a replacement remote oil tank? do I have to order a new one from the engine manufacturer (in this case mercury) or from the boat maker (grady white) or can I just get a generic part? any advice would be appreciated. are there substantive differences between fuel tanks and oil tanks (I'm assuming yes)? thanks.

cinc

I replaced one about two years ago after it developed 'cracks' from being exposed to the direct sunlight(according to the parts man). I purchased mine from a parts store and was able to get just the tank so I could reuse the existing internal hardware to save a few bucks.

Get the part number off the Merc parts website and go shoppong at E-bay. Pick-up a whole new assembly which included the tank, brackets, and hoses for less than $50. .
