1985 evinrude 60 hp Motor runs bad carbs are clean and timing is good.i noticed the float bowels are a different color then the carbs.could the orfice plugs be too small and from a different motor? And by that I mean the jet that screwed in the bottom of the carb bowel. It cuts out at half throttle if I bump the quick start primer it speeds up then it's fine.

Try reading your post and then asking yourself how you would answer it if you read this inquiry.
Give us a bit of history and we might be able to help.

Is the motor new to you or have you owned it for a while....or even since brand new?
If it is new to you, has it ever run satisfactorily? i.e. is this a new condition or chronic?

etc etc.

I got the boat used and it's always ran like that.the whole boat motor has been rigged....I've got everything strate but that.its a 55 hp bottom end with a 60 hp head....... I did not find this out till a few days later.but runs grate after I bump the choke.its running out of fuel when the motor starts to get on plain.

Go to the "Top secret files" at the top of this section and read the section on troubleshooting.
First instincts say carb problem....you may need a better cleaning job.
But if the motor is new to you, you should do the Full Monty. Check compression so that you know where you are....verify spark quality....should jump 1/4" minimum gap....you need a proper tester, not leaning the plug against a ground.

Once you've dome that, all that is left really is fuel delivery.

Your question from your first post about whether the wrong orifices could be installed ....absolutely. Sometimes if the jet is too big you get as much of a problem as too small. There should be a number on them which you can check by removing them.

You have no control over what the previous owner did or didn't do, so never assume anything is as it should be.

I have checked all that mounts ago.its running lean I know for a fact.the plugs are always clean never black after idling for hours fishing. Never seen a motor do that and I've owned many boats.i think someone replaced the bowls with another motors bowls.these look new and carb looks old.this has been a on going problem and maybe it's about to be solved.
