I'm waiting for dellivery of a 65 Johnson 33hp long shaft, model # RXE-13. The selling add showed a picture of the unit which is all white. The only markings on either side of the cover are the Johnson sea horse logo. No Johnson name or anything else. This unit has probably been repainted.

I can't find a picture of what the engine cover looked like when new. I've checked every site I can find including iBoats manual section and no luck. None of the repair manuals have a definitive picture on the cover.

The Johnson site is no help either and there is no Johnson dealer within a reasonable distance. Where I live there is nothing within a reasonable distance.....

Any suggestions on how I can get a pic of the original ?

thanx..

Or try posting a photo request on the antique outboard board at www.aomci.org
They have photos of just about every motor ever made in America.

Love it, that's so true. My son lives in NW Kansas. I go out there three times a year. So, where do you plan to run that thing?

Like most other folks around here I'll be heading north to Wilson Lake about 1 1/2 hr drive. Also down to Cheney about 1 3/4 hr drive and possibly down to El Dorado Lake about 3 hr drive. With my lite 16' tinny I'll be watching the wind conditions very closely. I think Wilson is the worst for the wind, Cheney is probably 2nd worst and I haven't been to El Dorado in about 10 years so I'm not too sure what the wind is like down there. Going to El Dorado would mean an over-nighter but that's part of the fun. Kinda like a mini-vacation for the navigator and I. Nice being retired. I can do these things during the week rather than fighting the weekend crowds. Never thought I would reach this point in my life but now that I've arrived it seems the trip was worth it. Most of it anyhow. :D
