Well I finally got the boat in water and ran it for a real test. Started relatively well (Only three tries!!!!) and would idle with the motor submerged. Idle rpm was just under 700 while in neutral, when I put it just in gear the rpm's would drop to about 400-500 and the engine would stall if I let stay there. I went through a series of low speed and WOT runs and the engine seemed to run a little rough but not bad. WOT topped out at about 3100-3200 rpm ,which is low from what I understand. I've got plenty of questions on my next stage of tweaking this thing out but I have a quality of service question to handle first.

I had my boat in for a tune up and it still did not run well. Then i started doing all this stuff myself with the help of everyone at this site. Over the past few weeks of learning about my motor and having lots of fun and frustration along the way:confused::D:eek::) I now notice some issues with what was done to my engine during its tune-up. I have two problems both with the lower carb and maybe related. There is now always a puddle of fuel under the carbs and the gasket surrounding the lower carb is always wet. I can't see an obvious indication of a leak elsewhere but haven't ruled anything out just yet. I also noticed that there is no gasket between the lower carb and the silencer. There is one on the top carb but none on the bottom. I don't think I'm out of line to bring that in for a re-do but is such a booboo even acceptable?

Will the missing gasket at this location cause any performance problems? what would be a 'reasonable' response from the repair facility (one-man show)?

Shouldn't be a puddle of gasoline anywhere. I can't answer about the gasket, but I'd take it back to the guy, point out the problem, and see what he does.

You most certainly aren't getting proper WOT RPM's, which could be related to the carb deal. It could be flooding or not properly tightened when installed. If this work was just done, then the guy should fix what isn't fixed.

As for the slow idle in gear, you can increase the idle speed a bit, and that should clear up. I don't know where the idle speed adjustment is on that engine.

Lower carb float is not adjusted properly. That's your leak and also the source of your poor idle etc.

There is a gasket between the carbs and silencer - nobody bothers putting it back on. It's really not important.

sound like you may need to pull carbs clean jets check your link and sink
look in your reeds to make sure there clear and un damaged ,
check your timeing fuel hoses and lines check thermos and poppetts
basicly go over your motor yourself because if they left out a gasket or reused one then there is no telling what else they did or didnt do
3500 is low rpm for any two stroke ,
good luck bennyb
