Check this out and if you are in the Central PA area, check out my thread about Goldsboro and it's suckage.

So, can this be repaired, or am I looking at a new lower?

Just a dinged prop and a lightly damaged skeg. Both can be repaired. That doesn't look like the original skeg anyway, unless the trailing edge had been filed away already

I have had more damge than that on my old 74 Merc 650 One time - tore the skeg clean off. Another time froze the bottom and crack the gear and shaft housing right to the ouside edge at the threads for the retainers.

I know a really good tig welder and prop specialist fix me up both times - engine still works to this day

Check your propshaft for damage (bends) from the strike.

Be sure to drain all oil from the gearcase before welding. Otherwise the heat from welding may expand the gear oil and pop a seal. Loosen the oil fill vent screw too, this'll allow a relief point for any air pressure buildup........ed
