Hello all,
I am a first time user and first time boat owner. I am a pretty good auto mechanic, but having no experience with boats, find myself in new territory.
Here's my problem, I have a '85 Four Winns 19' Ski boat with a 200 Mercruiser (305 GM engine). The boat has been running really well other than misc. minor elect. issues, until this weekend when it started taking on water in the bilge. An inspection revealed a torn exhaust bellows and water intake hose (3/4" heater hose). The large drive shaft bellows appears to be relatively new, in good shape, and tight. Also one bellow of the cable bellows is torn loose. I don't think that the exhaust and water hose will cause water to leak into the bilge (please correct me if I am wrong). Is the cable bellows going to cause a pretty severe leak into the bilge - most prevalent when the drive is trimmed up or in trailer mode?
If so, how do you change the cable bellows?
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
