Have any of you techs had any experience with an international dyno? This is a hydraulic unit not a water brake like land and sea.I am looking for a used unit and not sure about which of the two kinds I want.THANK YOU

Re: outboard dynomometer

I have used both these dynos and can tell you they each do well until you get to the 175 and up range. At that point the nervousness of using them at WOT and having a motor freewheel is always in the back of your mind.Water dynos require a strong volume of water with good pressure, and may require some plumbing upgrades to your shop,or access to a hydrant.Oil dynos are bulky and clumsy to use and always in the way when they are not in use.Though LAND AND SEA has the ability to load their dyno at the helm ,it is wise to use two operators with either dyno.Did I answer any questions for you,or just confuse you further?

Re: outboard dynomometer

Thanks for your reply HONDON.The oil unit does look bulky. I now use test props and they are not that great. They work ok in my test tank but i can not remove every motor i work on.Both man. say there units can be submerged.I mostly want to load rebuilt motors and put a couple hours on them before they go out.I have read a lot of your posts and you know your stuff. THANKS LARGEY PRL@wzrd.com :)
