Here's the one I made, easy to build, casters came from Northen (as mentioned earlier)

I know this is an OLD post, but though I'd throw it in, others may use the ideas.

Re: OUtboard Engine Stand

OK here is my version... well copy... I'm going to move the front wheels closer to the end. No reason other than I'll feel more comfortable. There is alot of wood and screws for a measly 250lb motor and the height is just right for working on it. When it is on the stand there will be about 4" clearance to ground so raising this up for LU service will be a breaze. Since this picture was taken I have coated it with teak oil (second coat later this season).

For those looking for a project stand... this is very nice and good luck with yours.

Re: OUtboard Engine Stand

anyone know where to get castors with brakes built in? I have a few pull start engines as well and do love the idea of having a base large enough to put a trash can o water on it ... would hate to have that water sloshing around from the stand lunging forward with every pull!

If you have a Harbor Freight Tools near you they have alot of stuff as boaters we can use. They have a great selection on they type of casters you are looking for. I have two sets for my engine stands and use one on the tongue of my trailers. I believe they have online ordering as well if you don't have one near you. Great prices.

Re: OUtboard Engine Stand

I'm currently building one. I'm using 2x10 for the false transom, on an old weight bench, which is predominently 2' square steel.<br />I am not finished with it. I need some 4" caraige boltz to complete it, and that will have to wait.

I had a nice bench press I found in a dumpster years ago. Reading your posting a few days ago reminded me of the weightlifting bench, and I went and got it out of the barn. I put two 2 x 10's one below the other, and attached them with 8 bolts, nuts and washers. I slid a piece of 2X4" inside of each of the two vertical square steel posts to reinforce the bolt holding capacity, and I placed some 2 x 8's at the base to make a sled and spread out the lbs per sq in better, so I could slide it on the dirt floor with thick Visqueen plastic. Didn't have to buy anything, had it all from leftover junk. I could probably put two 300 hp outboards on the thing, but I only have a 115.
