Ok,

So I have a 1990 Bayliner Capri (probably time to sell it for scrap and invest in a new boat) that died on me last weekend. I took the motor out and found out that I threw a rod bearing, and piston ring. I already turned the crank 3 years ago when I bored it out so I need a new crank which is $425 on ebay.

I found a running Force 120 nearby for $400, however it is in an outboard case and my boat is an inboard/outboard. I want to just transplant the power head in my boat. Has anyone done this? I'm thinking all I have to do is maybe change the exhaust manifold, but other than that should it just bolt on?

Thanks

Ah,

I finally found a couple old posts about this issue. Seems like I gotta see if my crank goes with a 13 spline or 15 spline drive shaft. Guess I better head out to where I'm keeping all the parts to find out...

You must have an L-Drive set up? If so, you are correct about the crankshaft splines. Double check before you purchase. Some of the 1995 and later model 120 outboards have 13 spline cranks. The exhaust cover should bolt on but I'm not 100% sure.
