Does anyone know of an aftermarket replacement for the seal on the bottom of outboard hoods? I've got some mid 70s Johnnyrude V4 hoods that are nice but the seals are cracked, the dealership told me they're discontinued and I'm sure they would want a small fortune if they could get them.

I've heard of folks using a section of black rubber hose of an appropriate size, carefully slit down one side and attached with maybe black silicone rubber and some stainless steel fasteners. It might work fine at sealing the cowl, and might look O.K.,depending on the level of craftsmanship. It's just an idea, especially for older motors where parts might not exist. Good Luck!

Peel and stick weather stripping at your local depot for homes. Many sizes and colors.
