I believe its a 150hp xr2. but I want to confirm this before ordering a manual.

Quite correct, 1986 Mercury 150XR2. The manual you need is 90-97658-3.

I do hope you're looking for the genuine, not the aftermarket manual...

Yes I want the merc manual, I have the seloc manual but it covers too many different models to be much help. Thanks for the confirmation and the manual part number.

OK, Got my Merc manual today in the mail. I also got the parts manual. Boy what an improvement over the seloc manual. I think I can do all my own repairs from now on. This $100.00 investment will save me lots of repair costs in the future. Thanks achris for your help.
