Has anyone used the outboard lift assist handle/bar on this site? Does it work ok?

It looks like it might dent or crack the cowl given the force is now on the cowl where it is not intended...

Re: Outboard lift assist handle/bar

I dont know about the one here but a few years ago while I was waiting to get a hernia repaired and couldnt lift too much I built my own. Had a 80 hp Merc ob with manual tilt. I used a piece of 1/8x3 flat bar, bent a hook on 1 end to engage the lift handle, bent it to conform to the curve of the cowl, welded a 6 in piece of pipe to the top middle, had a 3 ft pipe that slid into it for a lift handle ( actualy pulling back and pushing down). Worked good.

I had one on my 50 when I got it and it worked okay, never cracked anything, not nearly as easy as a CMC tilt trim but it probably isn't $500 either.
