outboard lift

I have a 9.9 hp 4 stroke Mercury I use for trolling my 20' Seaswirl I/O. I have a Garelick mount on the transom. I do not trailer my boat with the outboard attached. Therefore I transport it in my pickup, then when I get to the launch site, I have to remove it from the pickup, carry it to the rear of the boat and then lift it onto the mount. WHEW!! Of course the hard part is lifting it up onto the mount. I need some advice on how to easily do this, without spending an arm and a leg on a crane of some sort I've seen advertised, or having the little woman give me a hand. Any help will be Greatly appreciated! Thanks. Oltymer

Why not just leave it attached to your boat unless you live somewhere it might walk away. I have left my kicker attached to the Garlick mount for the past 20 years w/o any problems.

Everything I've read concerning a mount is to not transport your motor while attached. There is only 4, 3/8" bolts holding it to the transom and the constant movement going down the road could'nt be good for it, even though it has backing blocks inside the transom.

There is much more bouncing on the water while running, as least in the salt chuck.
