outboard motor change

I have a 70 hp mariner outboard on my 18' fiberglass starcraft. I had some problems with the motor once and although that is fixed now I would not like to be farther from the launch without a motor again. There will be more repairs I'm sure.Would it be a mistake to put two motors on this boat of a 40 hp size. Or would a 10 to 15 hp trolling motor be enough? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Re: outboard motor change

The best thing would be to get your motor fixed up right so you can rely on it, but if you're just not confident in it, then maybe buy a good kicker motor, say 10 or 15 HP to get you back to the dock.
