Re: Outboard Motor Rebuilders Near NJ Reviews
I had East Coast Outboard rebuild my 200 Johnson. When it was returned, the boat was nearly half off the trailer with only the safety chain holding it, the bimini structure was bent up form the excessive bouncing, the oil reservoir that had been taken off as part of the rebuild was in the cockpit half full of oil (the rest was all over the cockpit). They also only provided a 2-yr warranty when the agreement was for a 6-yr limited. I was told by the owner they would mail one to me. They were going to supply a trigger switch that was needed as a trade in on a 115 HP I sent back with them. They confirmed this was true after going over the motor. They made arrangements 3 times to get it to me, and three times said they had gotten the wrong part. This started in April, after the boat was returned, they would not answer my calls, unless I used a new phone number to call from. I lost the whole season to broken promises on parts and have no warranty at this point. I turned this over to the Better Business Bureau and just received a letter from them indicating East Coast Outboard would not contact them after 30 days of trying.
