Outboard motor repair questions

I own an outboard boat with a johnson 35 hp engine (1960 model). Recently, the boat will not start. I have changed the plugs and bought a brand new battery. The motor turns over, but will not catch. Does anyone have any suggestions about this problem? Help because I need to fish very badly.

She may be turning over but that doesn't neccessarily mean she's getting a spark.<br />Do a spark test. Also make sure your there are no <br />problems with your fuel line, fuel pump and filters, and that your fuel is fresh.<br />Hope the next sound your hear is your engine purring like a kitten.
