Outboard not running right with cowling on... and a fix!

I'm just putting this out here so that anyone else searching for a solution to this problem can find a fix. I'm not looking for comments and solutions, etc. Just trying to help others.

This fix isn't permanent, but works!

Gee, why not fix the exhaust leak.

Many manuals say ---" do not run full throttle with air box off "---With all those holes the air box cover does nothing.
