Hey guys , I have a 1978 bay liner Saratoga . The boat is 25 feet long with a Volvo 250 d in it . I was thinking about putting a small outboard on the swim deck mounting plate . It would be for fishing or main engine failure . What size would u recommend ?

A 9.9 will work but I would not go higher then a 20Hp. If you get a 4 stroke you could run it from the same onboard fuel tank you have now.

That depends on where and how you will mount it.

Most likely a long, or extra long shaft.

The longer the better to keep the powerhead out of the swells.
