outboard stand needed for 3.3 mercury?

Hi everyone,

I want to know if I need and outboard stand for my 3.3 hp mercury or can I stand it on the leg against the wall. I have been doing this with my 2.3hp chinese motor coz its only 10kg. the mercury is about 12 kg so not much difference, but wondering if it could damage the lower unit or leg in any way?? or is it fine to lean it against the wall.

You can lean it up against the wall, there will be no problems.

ok cool thanks. i use a kitchen chair to flush the motors but I cant use it to hang the motors on all the time, plus the chair takes up to much room. I have the motors in the corner of the lounge room (the wonders of living in units and not having a garage)

The reason old motors are all dented up is because they were leaned against the wall and fell over. For $2.79 you can buy a 2x4 and make a bracket to nail to the wall. Three twobafores will make a neat little portable stand.

I had some shelves like the ones below, that I bolted a 2x4 across the end and hung my 5 hp Merc on it.
Kept it off the floor for almost 0 cost.

Maybe put a hook in a stud and rig a strap to hang it by.

Or, you could just hire one of those unemployed people I keep hearing about to hold it for you
