not trying to sir pots or even claim this is the way you should do things, but here is a true story...<br /><br />my father in-law owned an omc quest until just recently- a 1996 21' center console, powered by a 1996 johnson 150hp oceanrunner. <br /><br />this boat spent it's first 2 years in the water up at the jersey shore. he kept it in the water all the time, ran it hard, and never flushed it with fresh water. ran it all summer. his winterizing routine was putting it on the trailer and painting the bottom again.<br /><br />the next 3 years it spent the entire summer in the water on the sassafras river in md. brackish water there, but same winterizing method. he did change the water pump in the 3rd year.<br /><br />the boat was then shipped to fl, where he ran it accross the atlantic to the bahamas (towing a 14' rhib!). it has been in the water at his condo in the bahamas ever since. remember- no flushing, 1 new water pump, that's it.<br /><br />he recently sold the boat to someone in the bahamas (he got a new jupiter 27 open w/ twin 200s). the person took the boat for an entire day and came back loving it. he then paid for a marine survey, which came back with great results- boat and motor are in perfect shape. sale occurred without a problem.
