I have an Evinrude 70 oil injected 1989 3 cyl. with power trim/tilt. trim/tilt seems to be working great, except when the engine gets to the trim posts going down and starts driving them in and also when i switch to the up position it makes one helluva noise for a few seconds, and then goes away, runs smooth and all is great. Is it normal for this noise to be there when it hits those hydraulic posts?

let me explain the noise...it is a grunting, straining type noise (not grinding) only last a few seconds on the down and up.

You may need lubrication on the end of the trim rams where they slide against the motor when they make contact. Another source of the growling is corrosion buildup in the upper pin that secures the tilt ram to the motor. Remove the pin, clean the corrosion on it and the ram eye, lube everything, and replace the plastic bushings.
