I have a 1974 Johnson V4-85 horse outboard motor. It has power trim on it and I would lkie to know if that would be a stock part or is something that someone has added? The reason for this question is because Im trying to locate the motor for the power trim and Im being told that it was not a part that was put on in the factory. If anyone happens to know the manufacture of this part please help.

Re: Outboard troubles

Sharonb.. Post your engines model number...

If it is original equipment, that would likely be the external type system with either a Calco motor or a Prestolite motor... See if you can match up any of these part numbers to the trim motor you have..

172543 is Calco

387277, 582048, 582155, 584107 are Prestolite

Re: Outboard troubles

snapperbait--Thank you for your quick response. The Model # is 85ESL74B--Serial # U4083281. The part I need is the pump for the trim. Should any of the number's you gave me be on what ever is left of the trim? I sure hope so. Again thanks for your help.
