Outboard vs I/O

I am currently looking for a new boat. I have a chance to buy one with an I/O motor but have always owned outboards.What are the advantages or disadvantages of one type over the other? Thanks in advance

One big disadvantage of a I/O is weight, if you do a lot of boating in lakes with shallow water the draft on a I/O is greater then the same boat with a outboard. This also could be a determining factor depending on the tow vehicle used if you plan to trailer the boat.
