outdrive bottom end noise

can anyone help i have a 1981 3.0l 120 with a alphaone outdrive i just bought the boat and it needs a lill work it looks like someone ran the prop hard into a oyster bed and im going to be replacing the prop and there is a rattling noise in that area also in any gear f-n-r doesnt matter im not sure what it would do in the water since im not gonna put it in untill it gets fixed the prop has some free play in and out but no play from side to side im sure it is some kind of bearing in there im just not sure which one thanks for any help
