Hello I have a 1985 mercruiser with a alpha gen II outdrive, the 5/8 cooling hose from the outdrive pop out due to a restriction on a strainer, now I been trying to put it back and nothing any trick to do this thanks...
No you dont. Its an R or MR drive, also called an Alpha.
Gen II is way later than 85.
As for the hose, do you mean the one behind the bell housing? You may need to pull the out drive to get enough movement to get your hand in there to put it back on. Also if it came off, the clamp was loose. there is not enough pressure there to blow it off if the clamp is tight.
the boat is a wellcraft 1995 with a alpha gen II, the engine is from a older boat 1984-1985...., the hose pop up because or either the mechanic didnt tie the clamp or because the strainer, I have a strainer filter and was clogged with sand and small rocks.
I think you are refering to the hose inside the transom. I lay atop the motor with a light back there, it's still hard to connect. I don't know of an easy way to do it.
Well, if you clogged the strainer with sand and rocks ,a impeller inspection/replacement would seem next. They are a pain to get on but it is possable .
