I just put my boat in the water. My out drive will not tilt or trim. However the pump is making noise and the fluid shows full any suggestions?

Re: OUTDRIVE DOES NOT LIFT BUT PUMP MAKING NOISE

had similar problem on 1974 outboard with same pump as on my 1976 140... had someone else twiddling with adjusting screw on pump while I played with switch. Once I got it to go down it went up with no problem. I'd guess that you've got trash or air in the system. Not being a smarty pants but I'd read a mercruiser or mercury manual on trim pumps. I've never done that and it's about time. I do know they have bleeder screws or valves.

what kind of drive and year would help

if the boats in the water and its got a full oil tank you have pretty limited repiar options other than a bad coupling between the pump and pump motor

tommays

some early models have a steel block under the pump where the hoses attach. inside this block are passages to the hoses sealed with o-rings. i have had these o-rings break and could not use trim system

Make sure its in neutral. My 74 would not go up because it was in gear.
