Outdrive Gasket

I've been using the new style outdrive gasket with the line of rubber? (I guess you would call it) Hopefully you know what I am talking about, where there is no need for sealer. A plain type gasket came with my bellows kit that I am installing this weekend. With the plain gasket do I need to use sealer? And what sealer is good for this. Thanks!

did a search, should have done it before I posted, sorry. Looks like it goes on dry. Either type of gasket.

You're talking about the rubber gasket (SEAL, MERC # 43713) that goes between the transom and the gimbal housing assy ............


It is not required to use a "sealer" on the "seal" . Howsomever, (is that a word?)

It helps to use trim cement or other contact cement just to hold it in place on the housing while you're pushing it against the transom so it doesn't slip out of place.... don't use something that might "melt" the rubber though.

EDIT///You said it came with a bellows kit.......That is not the same gasket! But it doesn't appear to need sealant either!

Nope...the gasket between the bell housing and driveshaft housing
