How do you tell what kind of merc outdrive a boat has? This is for an '03 w/ 4.3MPI motor.

EDIT: There's alpha and bravo and different revisions as well, I think. This is a little confusing.

How about a serial number? I would bet its an alpha one gen 2

This is a boat I'm looking at purchasing. I'm looking for a general rule of thumb for outdrives id? What do you look for to tell them apart? Is there a rule that say if you motor is so big you will need x drive?

the alpha one is good to at least a 5.7 litre. Try this place...
