Outdrive leak question

I did a pressure test on my Alpha One Gen 1 a year ago after installing a new input yoke and seal and a water pump. Held pressure for 36 hours until I finally just let it out. Ran it last summer and in the fall changed oil and put the outdrive on a stand in my outbuilding. No evidence of any leaks. No water in oil or oil on floor. This winter after a stretch of very cold weather (like -15 or -20F) I was in the building and there was a big puddle of gear oil on the floor under the drive. Seemed to come from a couple different places. Even from the new input yoke seal. Anyway last night I finally got around to retesting and these two pictures were taken 22 hours apart and I had turned the propeller, input shaft and shift shaft during the test. Not sure what to think. Glad I guess. LOL. Anyone ever seen extreme cold weather cause seals to leak while the oitdrive was just sitting on a stand? I thought maybe in the cold the seals and shafts could contract enough to cause leaks? I'm not going to go digging looking for problems here. Lol. Just curious if anyone has seen something similar.20210426_164039.jpg20210425_184921.jpg

Have not seen the issue with cold, but your testing pressure is to high. Better to use 5 psi, and no more then 10 (5 to 7 best)

The lip seals face inward, so the higher the pressure the tighter the lip is pressed against the surface. Also goo to test with a vacuum gauge if pressure holds around 5 in Hg

I followed instructions in Mercury service manual posted by Don years ago on this site. Not correct?

The list does show 7-10 first and is a good test. Over time there has been many discussions on this topic after Don had passed. These discussion is also where the slight vacuum came in. While it should not have leaked, it did. Try with 5 psi and see if it leaks

I sure you used a regulator to limit maximum pressure in case the air supply was squeezed to much. oh well, vacuum a much better test.

What I actually used was a hand operated bicycle pump. I hope the shrapnel from the 15 psi bomb doesn't take my head off.

LOL. funny

MOD EDIT - No. it isn't Dan.
What's not? Explain please.
I thought it rather inappropriate for someone to post I'd be dead from the outdrive exploding by performing a pressure test per instructions in the mercury service manual that can also be found on this website.

That was not a funny post you replied to and that was a reference to your LOL. You may have meant that in a sarcastic way, but it's hard to tell. You did nothing wrong.
