Outdrive Levels after oil change

Hello,

Looking for some advice and help after I changed my outdrive on my Merc. This is the first time I changed it on this boat and system as the boat was new to us last year. I pulled all the plugs, dumped out the reservior in the engine area and allowed all the oil to drain that was going to drain out. Pumped in the oil from the lower drain hole until it came out the top hole. Installed the top plug and kept pumping until it was above the float in the reservior container. Once it was above that level I filled it from the top up to the full line.

Now here is my question, after two boating trips I see the oil is back down to the fill line, is this common? Or might I have an issue, no other issue or problem seem to be seen but just not sure.

Does it get an air trap or do I possibly have a leak someplace?

Just refill it and watch it again?

Thanks,
Chet

If the level continues to drop, look around in the bilge for any signs of gear oil leaking. It can also leak even if the boat is not running.

That's how I found out my front seal on the drive was were leaking when the level would drop without running the boat and I found gear oil in the back of the bilge.
