So I bought and outdrive and engine from a salavage yard to repower a liberator that had an omc package in it. The outdrive has a lock nut on it. like on you would see on a tire that prevents some on from stealing it. Well... are there marine versions of these or should I go to pep boys and compare it to those there? Any one have any experience getting these off?

Ayuh,... Weld a Big ole Nut to it,+ turn it Off....
Probably gotta use nickle or SSteel rod,... They're usually some form of SSteel...
I've also had Luck with Beating a 12pt socket onto 'em,+ being able to turn 'em Off...
It usually splits the socket, but the lock is Gone...

Re: Outdrive Lock Nuts

that is the one. It had the little rubber nipple and all... I tried vice grips and when I turn the outside it just spins and does not turn the nut. All I am worried about is ruining the threads maybe I will weld something to it. Thanks for the advice

does the thread unscrew like a stud in a intake manifold? if so maybe I will pull the stud and replace it anyways... no torch or beatings need...

Why don't you just order the lock and the tool. Then you don't damage the drive, or the stud. Plus, you can keep your outdrive from being stolen.
