Outdrive oil in bilge?

I'm having problems with my 93 alpha one gen II. When I run the boat I have been getting outdrive oil in the bilge. My manuel says that an oil resivor tank was an option for this boat, but I don't have one. I know that there is a check valve when you pull the outdrive off. I'm wondering if this valve is bad and letting oil into the boat. Any information would be appreated.

Thanks:confused:

Are you sure its outdrive lube & not motor oil?? get a flashlight and look close all around the engine block for fresh oil leaks.. rear main seal??

i had similar symptom on a 1990 alpha and the yoke seal was shot.
it is the seal that prevents the outdrive oil from leaking into the bilge area

Assuming you have the dark green gear lube in your bilge, pull the outdrive and look in the bellows it's full.
DO NOT run the boat again. The bearings in the upper gear box are probably out of oil and WILL be destroyed.

What causes this? I am having the same problem. Water is pouring into the bilge through the transom (on the muffs) with gear lube. The water is coming in above the coupling.
