Outdrive oil leak

I have a Alpha 1 Gen 2 outdrive that was dripping drive oil through the water inlet holes at the bottom. I have drained the oil and pulled the unit from the boat.
I wish I would have pressure tested it before disassembly, but I didn't.:facepalm:
I think the oil leak is either at the small o-ring seal between the upper and lower units, or the upper seal in the gearbox.
My research shows that changing the upper seal requires alot of special tools which I don't have.

Is it possible to pressure check the units seperately form one another?.... should I reassemble it and then pressure check it?..... should I have a shop replace the upper seal?....any other ideas?

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

That leak could also be from the seals under the water pump, top of the gear-housing.

Yes, you can pressure test the units separately. Just plug off the oil passages between the housings all pressure it up.

Its a gen II.... cant pressure test the upper by itself without also plugging the vertical shaft entry seals somehow. (Unlike the previous Alphas, where you could pressure test each half separately because of the shaft penetration seal design).
