I have an opportunity to buy a pretty nice boat at a descent price. Owner states that the outdrive seal needs replaced. Its a 3.0 OMC with cobra outdrive. I'm not extemely mechanical but can handle some work. How difficult is this? And if I was to pay to have this done what would be the average cost? Appreciate any help here.

Owner states that the outdrive seal needs replaced.

Ayuh,......

Ifthis is the Big Seal, that seals the Outdriveto the Hull,......
It Usually means theTransom is Rotten,+ needs Replacing.........

That combined with the fact it's OMC powered is probably Why it's so Cheap........
And if I was to pay to have this done what would be the average cost?

About 5 or 10 Times the value of the boat,... After the repair.......

Bond-o & Gary --- Would you still be worried if it was an aluminum boat. Owner claims the OMC runs good?? The boat is a 1988 Lund 2100 Baron. I'm getting this boat extremely cheap because of the trade I'm making which I have very little money in. A boat I bought right and fixed up. (He wants smaller - I want bigger). I don't mind putting money or work into this as this is a boat that would work really well for the water and type of fishing I do. I'll probably put a new floor in it and do alot of cosmetic stuff to it but when it comes to that engine and drive I've read enough on here to be concerned. I really value your opinioin and would appreciate some "tough love" knowledge here :).
