210-1984 SR Cuddy...SE106 outdrive.small block GM/Bravo 305 5.0 litre family 260hp, fresh water cooling system, with the 2 barrel carb.

The boat is on the trailer...Dry docked.....A few months ago she went up and down fine...I can here the pump running when I push the switch up or down but nothing happens. Any Ideas?

New batteries, just got the engine running...Thought I would change the fluid in the outdrive...thats when I found out the trim is not working.

If the outdrive sits in the up postion can it become stuck is some way and if so...what the best way to lossen it back up?

Thanks for any and all help...

You might try having your biggest beer drinking buddy stand on it while you hit the down button.

Disconect the rams off the outdrive and see if they move. That would tell ya something.

I think Bob has your answer, and have that buddy bounce on it if it doesn't move.
What happens, is the drive is put all the way up and you can hear the tilt motor bog down. Most just stop and be done with it. But the system is pressureized, and it can hang the check balls in the pump. The other is the trim cylinders can freeze up in the up position.
Either way a few bounces get them going again.

Now, a word of advise, NEVER run the engine with the drive all the way up ............ You are lucky something didn't get damaged.
second, when you put the tilt up next time, when you get it all the way up, push the down button just enough to relieve pressure on the pump.

Wondering why you cant run the engine in the up postion...what happens...as I did run the engine but I coud not keep her runniing.

For one thing, it makes it very hard on the ujoints, coupler, gimbal bearing etc. Everything is at a sever angle.
The other thing, that can happen (depending on transom angle) is the ujoints hitting the gimbal housing and destroying the housing.
Have seen this more than once.
