I'm working on a 1968 Mark Twain with a 160 MerCruiser (250 ci straight 6) and I know I at least need to do the shift boot as it is cracked and is leaking, but I'm trying decide if I should redo all the boots and bimbal bearing or just the shift boot.
I plan on doing it myself, and have already rebuilt the engine and put in a new floor on the boat, but am not sure if there's any special tools or knowledge needed to get this project done. Can I do the shift boot without taking everything apart?
I'm also looking for a digital copy for the Merc service manual that I can download. I believe I believe I'm looking for service manual #1. I currently have a Clymer's and a Sealoc manual but am not very satisfied with them.
Thanks for the help, and happy winterizing
