I have 5 computers on a wired network, at home. How can I set OE, on 4 of the computers so that they do not download any email from the ISP? I want to leave emails accessable on my primary computer if I happen to view them on any of the other 4.

Tools, options, general tab<br /><br />look for the entry : Send and receive messages on startup, uncheck this entry<br /><br />I didn't see an option to 'Leave messages on server'<br /><br />Un-check option to Check for new messages every XX minutes.

I know it's there somewhere, Xcusme, if not on OE6 at least on earlier versions. A few years ago I had a computer guru set me up at work so I could see my email there but still download it at home. I just can never remember where the function was or how it was called.

OK, duuh....goto OE<br />click on Tools, accounts<br /><br />highlite the email account you use, then click properties<br /><br />click on the Advanced tab<br />at the bottom of that page is the option to Leave a copy of messages on server<br /><br />goto all of your other machines and click this option. On your main machine, don't check this option.

Dont forget to also set the number of days that your secondary PC's will leave the messages on your server.<br /><br />Peter

Re: Outlook Express Question.

Actually, any of your computers can D/L the mail at any time. They will get mails regardless of the time the mail stays on the server. Only when the 'main' computer grabs the mail, are the mails removed from the server. So there is no reason to specify how long (in days) the 'secondary' computers will leave the mail on the server. With the settings above, they can't remove the mails, only the 'main' computer can.
