Has anyone mounted speakers so you can hear the music while swimming off of the back of the boat? I know a wake tower with speakers would be a solution, but that's a bit pricey for my blood. I could mount 6x9s on either side of my tow hook, but that goes right into the engine compartment and am I right to be worried about a fire having the speakers there there?

The only other thing I can think of is to get the outdoor speaker boxes and mount them right to the swim platform.

Just curious to see how others have seen this done. I am continually amazed at how the sound from the speakers inside the boat is completely inaudible outside of the boat. No matter how high I crank up the volume!

Here is a picture of my transom: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/phot...authkey=Gv1sRgCILU7bL-8JCBhAE&feat=directlink

All boats are designed that way so the rest of us on the water don't have to listen to the racket :D

Did it occur to you that when you chop the throttle, speakers mounted on a swim platform or through the stern might have to endure "flooding"?

how often do you plan on using these speakers?

my first thought for some not often used speakers would be the small speaker boxes for a set of 6 x 9's. mount a set of RCA plugs on each side in the rear. pull out the speakers, set them on the dog house and plug them in.

Kind of redneck, but wouldnt cost much and wouldnt require hacking up the boat.

Or get some smaller (5 1/4") enclosed waterproof speakers and attach them to your swimplatform with industrial stregnth white velcro. Use either RCAs plugs or 3.5mm mini-plugs to have a quick disconnect so that when you are done swimming you can pick them up and unplug them quickly.

You will be amazed at how low you can turn the volume on the stereo and be able to enjoy the music while in the water, and not disturb the people still left on the boat.
