over heat but still has water coming out

yamaha, carbed. 150's or 200's i forget, they are 6 cylinders. the port engine over heated but there was still water coming out of the pee tube or whatever it is called. I know it wasn't from running anything over beacuse i tilted the engine up and there was nothing there, let the engine cool down and started it up and it overheated again. i'm just confused because there is still water coming out.

Is the engine able to run full rpm when you first start it? When was the water pump replaced? On my 99 150 the head gaskets dried out and allowed the motor to run good for a short time then over heat. Pull your spark plugs and check the top of the pistons. If they are clean you have a problem. Good luck.

You do have two thermostats on that, plus a pressure relief valve. Have you changed / checked those ?
