Re: Over Heating!

Did you check and/or replace the impeller? That is the first thing to check on any marine engine if it overheats.

Thanks for the tip are you talking about the fresh(raw) water pump impeler. Will any thing stand out what do you look for?

Re: Over Heating!

The sea water pump impeller. NOT the engine circulation pump. (known in the auto industry as a water pump)

Re: Over Heating!

The rubber vanes of the impeller will be shredded or torn off completely.. Bits of rubber will remain in the impeller housing and are probably all through your cooling system clogging things up now if that's what went bad.. You'll need to flush out the cooling system and install a new impeller, might as well order the kit AND the impeller itself , chances are good that if the impeller went bad it spun the metal inside the housing too... The good news is it's very easy to get to...

Re: Over Heating!

Ditto - I did my impeller last weekend. Fairly easy (in retrospect) and now the boat cools just fine!

Re: Over Heating!

The impeller was shot. Only two of the vanes left, the rest gone. Replacing the impeller was very easy. Now on to the electrical truble Thanks again
