Over torqued water pump bolts

Replaced water pump on 1988 Johnson 140 HP. Bought a new inch pound torque wrench, didn't know how to use it correctly and I now am sure I overtightened the water pump bolts considerably. I've already installed the lower unit and it pumps water OK. Should I pull lower unit again and loosen and retorque water pump bolts now that I know how to use my torque wrench or just leave it. Don't know if it is possible to pinch impeller and cause excessive wear problems.

Just leave it be , the wise folks at engineering have installed spacers so that you can do no damage.

As long as it's working okay, run it and don't worry about it.

Can?t over torque the bolts. If the bolts did not strip then you did not over torque. They strip real easy. If one does strip, an helicoil kit, with drill, tap, and a half dozen helicoils will set you back just a few bucks. The helicoil process is a snap.

OK, Thanks. I didn't strip them. What a brain fart, though, to misuse a clicker torque wrench! I was waiting for an audible click, thought the cheap tool was defective!
