hey guys im new to this forum but have found it to be helpful so i joined. I have a 94 225 crownline 350 mag alpha 1 . last year i was running wot and trimmed with the trailor trim to throw a spray out the back stupid i know, but when i stopped i lifted the cover and the oil reservoir for the outdrive was about to burst. I drained the oil and had a little water in the mix. Could this be the prop seal or somthing worse? Any help would be greatly appreciated. o and what should my top speed be only getting around 47 out of her

Re: Over trimming

drain the oil and pressure test the lower unit to find the leak. doubt trimming up caused the water to get in the lower unit.

As for the top speed, there is alot of factors that can be limiting it as well as helping it.

Re: Over trimming

As the drive heats up and cools down. The seals block water and oil from comming in and going out.Back to back seals. One could be letting water in as the drive cools. Then won't let the pressure out.So the water backs the oil up into the resivoir.
Drain the fluids and pressure test and vacume test the drive.
Running with the drive up can damage the u-joints,the bellows and in extreme cases the bellhousing and transom assembly.
47mph is good for that boat. What rpm's at wot? What pitch prop? Boat load and boat condition makes a difference in speed.
4-5 adults 2-3 kids and a dog or 2 and a cooler and a full tank of gas??? It all affect speed.J
