overcharging??

1979 RUDE 140, CHARGES 14.31 @ 2500 RPM, AND CHARGES GOOD @ IDLE,
WOT CHARGES WIDE OPEN,BURIES THE GAUGE,PUT DVOM ON IT TO CONFIRM, I KNOW IT DOES'NT HAVE A REGULATOR,WHAT WOULD BE THE CAUSE FOR THE OVER CHARGING:confused:

idk my boat motor does the same thing i got 17 volts at 2 grand. Does the volt guage go down once you kill the engine or does it stay burried.

Unregulated systems will do that. Some batteries work better with unregulated systems than others. Unless you make very long high speed runs you have nothing to worry about. If it bothers you, turn on all the lights and accessories you can. Voltage should drop a little.

Was Concerned About Boiling The Batteries Or Too Much Voltage For The Electronics..


And Volt Gauge Goes Down When Im Off Wot. Only Pegs On Wot.

Will Run The Accessories When Running Wot.

Even putting that many volts to the battery the amps are still low.It would take a long time to boil the battery..
Mine was charging high like that because my battery was old.I put a new battery in and now at WOT i'm about 16 volts then it slowly drops to about 14..
