Hello
I have an Evenrud 3 hp Yachtwin motor I think its from 1965, I am going to overhauling it, is there something I shut be veer off. I never overhauled an outboard engine before.

olemartin@hotmail.com
I agree with JB - a Service manual is a must for service specifications and such.

There's a few good and great tutorials online. Have a look at maxrules.com/fixtuneitup.html and www.outboard-motor-repair.com . An Evinrude from that time is the same as a Johnson, but with different paint.
