If your going to try and fix it do not bore it over .030. If it has to go bigger find a different block. Most reman companys have dropped/quit doing crossflow powerheads. I myself would just sell it for parts and take the $$ and try and find a 60 degree 150.

Find a different motor for replacement as you don't want to put $1500 in a motor worth $800
Does this looks like it would be a good replacement? The options in my area seem to be slim.

a salt water motor, hard to believe that an almost 20 year old twin outboard saltwater boat only has less than a thousand hours on it? The math works out to 47 hours a year for 19 years. Maybe it hasn't been used much in the last 5 to 10 years? And maybe yall fish different out there on the west coast, around here it takes several hours of running just to get to your spot for a boat that would have two outboards like that on it. And then you would troll all day, so in a day of fishing it would not be unheard of to put 12 hours easy on a motor, often more than that.

Personally I would want a motor from the fresh water if at all possible. Forget the corrosion issues in the motor , just the bolts alone come out so much better on fresh motors.

yeah id avoid a salty unless it was very cheap, so at that price id be willing to travel inland to get a freshwater one

What's the next step I should take? Do I need to tear the whole thing down and have it bore and honed then buy the pistons and rings to match? Is it possible to add hp when doing this since it will be getting bored?

If your going to try and fix it , tear it down and send it to a machine shop to have all cylinder "miked" and bored. Have heads lightly surfaced to bring back to flat.Boring will not any noticeable horsepower.

I offered the guy $1500 for that ocean runner I posted earlier and he is thinking about it, would I need to get new controls or could that bolt onto my boat without too much modification? It's the starboard engine I don't know if that makes a difference

Get a model number as it likely a 25" motor. No big deal if you have a jackplate and yes you will need the controls or purchase a adapter harness

Ok so Iv decided to buy the ocean runner 200 he is going to sell it to me for $1500 . What will I have to do to make this motor work? Just a jack plate and harness adapter? Anything else I need to consider when changing the motor? Thanks again for all your help this site is awesome!

Look closely at #4 starboard piston before you buy!!!!!! According to your sheet #4 has 0 compression.if that is true RUUN away from that motor.
I believe that's the port motor I'm buying starboard motor, he had that motor for sale for parts

He just confirmed that that was the other motor with a bad piston (this is coming off a boat running twin motors)

No need to run hours to find fish. The warm waters of the Gulf Stream bring them to us.... Pelagics readily avaiable within sight of land at a number locations. Lots of inshore game fish opportunities within minutes of the dock.

Got the old motor off yesterday, that thing was a beast! . The new motor came with controles should I use those or get a adapter. Where would I get a adapter and what should I be looking for when buying it ?
