It turns out that my insurance DOES cover damage caused by plastic bag covering the water intake. Yeah for Allstate.
The adjuster is sending over a marine surveyer. I was thinking about the list of things that I know should be checked. If any of you can think of any additional item, please add them to the list:

Engine (obviously)
Exhaust manifold hoses
Exhaust flapper
Seals in the Alpha outdrive
Alpha water pump impeller

Your new engine is going to have more horsepower just because it is newer. I don't buy the "different horsepower" affecting you that severely. As long as both engines are synced in RPM you will be fine.

seen a few inner transom shift cables go bad because they rest against the Y pipe during a overheat.
