I have a Arrowglass Carisma 210 5.7 mercruiser.

This boat has been an interesting affair. I was sent to the boat by a client to get it ready for summer. I have NO background info on this boat other than the engine in relatively new and it is stored in a suspended dock out of the water.

I go to the boat charge the battery. Fire boat up at dock everything seems fine. Leave dock and in less than half mile boat is overheating and full of water(leaking around engine)???

I creep back to dock and discover a freeze plug has been blown out. I do not know if plug was already out due to engine freezing over harsh winter or if it came out due to temperature overheating???.
Also that I have water in the oil.

I replace freeze plug and change oil hoping that water got in to block due to so much water in the boat from missing freeze plug. Boat idled perfect at dock. Took of from dock and again overheating??? Back to dock water in oil!! Find I have a cracked block on my hands. Right above where freeze plug came out.
Client gives me the boat:) and gets another:cool:.

I have a new engine installed in boat. Connect hose with muffs and everything works fine. Also connected hose into block where water pump connects. No over heating problem. Everything seems great. Took out water impeller and inspected it. The impeller seemed to be in good shape just seemed to be very tight in housing. I do not know if this is how it is supposed to be or not but otherwise it looked fine.....

Took boat out to lake yesterday evening. Started at dock all is good. Leave dock get a little ways off and overheated again. Thank God friend came with extra boat to tow me back to dock.

I am to a point I do not know what else to do. Going to replace impeller tomorrow. MAybe:confused:that is it. Otherwise I am lost. Am I missing anything?? Where else do I look??

Thanks in advance to all!

Did you re-use the manifolds and risers?

Re: overheating problem ??!?

I have a 1988 Grady white seafarer 22 w/ a 305LX Mercruiser enigine.. Boat had risers and manifolds changed in 2004.(along with a new outdrive.-old one seized). I had it out the past week and it overheats at RPM"S greater than 3200. My WOT is 4200. The temp gauge stays at 160f even though it has a 140f thermostat in it! I replaced the risers and manifolds in 2004 with the ceramic coated Mercruiser good ones! Can the manifolds and risers be shot already? I use the boat in salt water in Delaware! If i stay beloew 3200, the temp stays between 160 and 180f. If i try to run above that, the temp gauge goes to 180f+,and then the engine seems like someone cut off the fuel to it-lurching and losing power! ANy suggestions?????

Change the impeller. Not that hard to do and a lot cheaper than the alternative!

How about cleaning out the risers and manifolds! Any one know how to clean them out-either manually or with maybe some kind of cleaner????
